winter camping - these are the essentials

There is something very powerful about nature and being in nature. The first thing that makes hiking more than just exercise is the fact that hiking takes place in nature.

Ice climbing is an absolute blast once you get past the fact you are essentially climbing water. Not only is hiking fun and refreshing it is also very good for you. Using a large ice pick, you use an overhead swing to penetrate the ice in front of you.

Make sure that you have a good first aid kit too. Make a list of all necessary supplies and check off the list as you pack to ensure nothing is forgotten.

Dehydrated food can be an ideal way to carry a fair amount of food without it taking up a lot of space or being too heavy to carry. Bring along a camera, binoculars and a magnifying glass on your camping and hiking trips as their will be lots to see. Water activities like swimming, canoing and fishing are a great way to enjoy the outdoors.

Camping is also a way for families to bond and for children to nurture new friendships. Read a good book with the wind whispering through the leaves.
