Don't you ever crave that break from the big city, smog, and crowds of people? Most every outdoor activities you'll need can be found right at home.
One of the most common problems that campers face is being unprepared for changing climactic conditions, consequently being ill-equipped with proper clothing and equipment for storms, sudden shifts in temperatures, wind chill factors and heavy rains. Always dress appropriately in layers for winter camping. Carry a good deal of clothing too you never know when the weather may change.
To start, you can get by with basic hiking equipment such as rations, tents and sleeping bags. Try to flex and exercise your ankles at least several times in the week or two before your trip. Every spare pound that you are carrying counts, so taking too much stuff up with you is always a bad idea.
Just don t assume skills in one niche translate to the other. Find an experienced ice climber and spend a day with them.
